WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY 2026

Educating Minds, Forming Character, Shaping the Future

A Message from the Rector of Al-Mustafa Islamic College

Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.

On the occasion of World Teachers’ Day 2026, I extend my sincere appreciation and profound gratitude to the teaching staff of Al-Mustafa Islamic College for your dedication to the noble vocation of teaching and for the invaluable contribution you continue to make to the development of our students and our institution.

World Teachers’ Day is not merely an occasion to celebrate teachers. It is an opportunity to reflect upon the meaning, dignity and responsibility of education itself.

Education is among the most powerful forces through which a society shapes its future. Behind every profession, every institution, every innovation and every generation of leadership stands a teacher who, at some point, helped to illuminate the path.

A teacher therefore does far more than deliver a lecture or complete a curriculum.

A teacher helps to form a human being.

Every lesson taught, every question entertained, every correction offered, every word of encouragement and every example set has the potential to influence a student’s intellectual development, character and future contribution to society.

For this reason, the teaching profession must be regarded not simply as employment, but as a trust and a profound social responsibility.

To our teaching staff

At Al-Mustafa Islamic College, we ask our teachers to see themselves not only as scholars and lecturers, but also as mentors, role models and builders of character.

Our responsibility is not simply to produce graduates who possess academic qualifications. Our responsibility is to help nurture graduates who possess knowledge and wisdom; faith and integrity; confidence and humility; creativity and discipline; competence and a commitment to serve humanity.

Let us therefore continue to challenge our students to think deeply, to question intelligently, to read widely, to research rigorously and to pursue excellence.

Let our lecture rooms be places where knowledge is respected, curiosity is encouraged, intellectual differences are handled with dignity, and every student is challenged to discover their potential.

But let us also remember that students learn from much more than what we teach.

They learn from how we conduct ourselves.

They observe our discipline, our fairness, our humility, our commitment to scholarship and our treatment of others.

The character of a teacher can become part of the character of a student.

May we therefore strive to be the kind of educators whose lives give credibility to the values we teach.

To our students

On this occasion, I equally wish to remind our students that education is a partnership.

Your lecturers can guide you, challenge you, inspire you and open doors of knowledge before you. But ultimately, the responsibility to learn rests with you.

Respect your teachers. Value their experience. Ask questions. Read beyond what is prescribed. Write. Research. Debate ideas respectfully. Develop the discipline to learn even when nobody is watching.

Do not pursue education merely for a certificate.

Pursue knowledge that transforms you.

Pursue knowledge that enables you to solve problems.

Pursue knowledge that equips you to serve your family, your community, your country and humanity.

When you leave Al-Mustafa, we want your qualification to open doors for you—but we want your character, competence and sense of responsibility to determine what you do when those doors open.

The Al-Mustafa commitment

As an institution, we must remain committed to an understanding of education that unites knowledge with character, excellence with service, faith with responsibility, and learning with innovation.

Our vision for Al-Mustafa Islamic College is therefore greater than producing graduates.

We seek to contribute to the formation of a generation capable of thinking independently, acting ethically, creating solutions and serving society with excellence.

This places a special responsibility upon all of us.

Teachers must remain committed to continuous learning.

Students must remain committed to disciplined pursuit of knowledge.

And the institution must continue creating an environment in which scholarship, research, creativity, innovation and human dignity can flourish.

A lasting legacy

To our teachers, I say:

Your greatest achievement may not be the number of students who pass your course, but the number of lives you positively influence.

Years from now, a student may forget the details of a particular lecture. They may even forget the examination questions they once struggled to answer.

But they may remember the teacher who believed in them.

They may remember the teacher who challenged them to do better.

They may remember the teacher who taught them to think.

They may remember the teacher whose conduct showed them what integrity looks like.

That is the enduring legacy of a teacher.

On this World Teachers’ Day, let us therefore renew our collective commitment to education as a noble trust and to teaching as one of the most consequential responsibilities entrusted to humanity.

To our teaching staff: we thank you, we value you and we honour your service.

To our students: respect your teachers, embrace your education and take responsibility for the person you are becoming.

And to the entire Al-Mustafa community: let us continue building an institution in which knowledge enlightens the mind, character guides the individual, faith gives purpose, and education becomes a force for the betterment of society.

May Allah Almighty bless our teachers with wisdom, patience and strength; bless our students with beneficial knowledge and success; and bless Al-Mustafa Islamic College to remain a distinguished centre of knowledge, character, innovation and service.

Happy World Teachers’ Day 2026.

May the work of every lecturer at Al-Mustafa continue to illuminate minds, transform lives and shape generations yet to come.

Wassalamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.
