In the Name of Allah, The Compassionate the Merciful

Praise be to Allah, Lord of the universe, and may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon our master Prophet Muhammad (saww), his pure progeny, and the chosen companions.

The Holy Qur’an plays a great role in setting man and society on the straight path to salvation. There are many Qur’anic verses and blessed narrations that emphasized the importance of studying the Holy Qur’an and grasping the depth of its secrets and of commanding Allah’s servants to adhere to the Qur’an because it is His complete word and His complete will for mankind at all times and place: “And this Book that We have sent down is a blessed one; so follow it  and be God-wary so that you may receive (His) mercy”

So, whoever wants to reach to, and receive Allah’s bounties he/she only has to follow His path and be guided by His guidance, and whoever is guided is guided only by Him, and whoever deviates, goes astray.

The global challenges that the Islamic nation (ummah) is facing today, and the cultural invasion that surrounds it from every direction, makes the Holy Qur’an the best reference and guide, and a source of enlightened thought that saves man’s spirituality, entity, and existence, and maintains his spiritual connection with the Almighty Allah; the Exalted Truth. And in the same vein, the Noble Messenger (saww) said: “If you want to enjoy the life of the happy, attain the death of martyrs, survive on the day of worries, have the shade on a hot day, guidance in times of deviation then study the Qur’an, for it is the speech of Allah the Most Merciful, a shield from Satan, and a positive load in the scale”.

And emphasizing the importance of learning and teaching the Qur’an, Al-Mustafa Islamic University- College has launched, since its establishment, the teaching of the Holy Qur’an, introducing its students to elite professors specialized in the field of teaching the Qur’an, reading and memorizing it besides its various related sciences.

VISION AND COMPETITION MESSAGE

This Quran Competition is aiming at encouraging reciters and memorizers, among others, by rewarding them to strengthen the Culture of reflection on the book of Allah and living by practicing its teachings.

This competition contributes to the raising of standards of activities that are related to spreading the teachings of Islam, establishing the spiritual environment and strengthening Muslim unity on basis of the Qur’an and promoting co-existence in society.

PARTICIPATION QUALIFICATION CONDITIONS: –

a) Students of Secondary schools and Institutions of higher learning.

b) Both Male & Female, and with NO age bracket.

c) Open to Citizens and residents in Uganda.

PART I:  ORAL

Memorization (QUR’AN)

a) Memorizing 30 Juzus for boys only.

b) Memorizing 20 Juzus for boys only.

c) Memorizing 10 Juzus for girls only.

Recitation (QUR’AN)

a) Tartiil for girls only.

b) Tahqiiq for boys only.

• Record a 3-minute Video of Tartiil, Tahqiiq, then send them on the Whatsapp number given).

Presentation (Oral submissions).

Instructions: – 

Choose one Topic under one of the three themes as indicated in the Appendix

• Make a recording of a 3-minute Video presentation on chosen Topic, then send it on the Whatsapp number given.

PART II:  WRITTEN

a) TAFSIIR (commentary of the Qur’an) Selected verses of surat – Hujuraat

b) Words of Wisdom (From“Nahj al-Balaghah” Book: Forty Wisdom narrations).

c) Quran Research: In this category, the participant is required to send any research which he/she carried out on any topic from the Holy Quran e.g., Quran teaching on family affairs, Quran and social relations among others It should not be less than ten pages and should send it to this WhatsApp number (+256757688977).

Submission will be in writing.

SOCIAL PRESENTATION

THEME: – THE CENTRALITY OF THE PRINCIPLE OF MERIT IN ISLAMIC INDIVIDUAL EVALUATION

Choose one of the following topics for presentation in not more than 12 minutes: – 

1. The illustration of the Truthful Trustworthy (Sadiq al- Ameen) qualities in life of prophet Muhammad (saww) and their impact on the mission.
2. The Illustration of how divine missions promoted interests of the oppressed.
3. Giving the practical Islamic perspective of women emancipation.
4. Citing the ups and downs in the Uganda Muslim community, in the last 60 years, and how to solve the challenges therein.

CULTURAL PRESENTATION

THEME:   SANITY IN THE MULTI- CULTURAL SOCIETY

Choose one of the following topics for presentation in not more than 12 minutes: – 

1. By virtue of its divine missions’ finality status, Islam encompasses them all.
2. The Qur’an, Prophet’s practice and Medina city state laid foundation for Islamic- Christian and Jewish relations.
3. The destructive vice of Envy (hasad) to the individual and society.
4. Forgiveness and Reconciliation are highly emphasized in Islam.

RELIGIOUS SERMONS

THEME: – THE EMPIRICAL ASPECTS OF THE OF ACTS OF WORSHIP (falsafat el ‘ebaadaat)

 Choose one of the following topics for presentation in not more than 12 minutes:

1. The significance of valid Fasting in human relations.
2. The reality of the prophets’ hadith; (The accepted Hijjah has no reward except paradise).

METHODOLOGY & SCOPE

The Contestant should not participate in more than one category.

There will be strictness on punctuality. Any delay on the competition time schedules will lead to cancelation. 

Participants shall secure official approval of participation from particular School Administrations, institution of higher learning, etc.

Continuous follow-ups of the competition participation information.

CERTIFICATES:

Participants shall receive Certificates and Awards Organized by The Religious And  Cultural Office of Al-Mustafa Islamic College Uganda.
